Casa Bernabe Mission Trip

June 2017 Mission Team

June 2017 Mission Team

Casa Bernabe is a beautiful 13-acre campus near Guatemala City that is home to more than 130 children. All of the children come out of difficult living situations. Some are orphans, others have been abandoned, others abused. At Casa Bernabe (House of Comfort) children find acceptance, stability and healing in the love of Jesus.

Our own Christina Watson, whose daughter’s adoption was stuck in the political mire that ensued when adoptions closed in Guatemala in 2007, has a special connection to Casa Bernabe.  Many of our community prayed for and walked along side of Christina as she fought for 5 years and finally won the right to bring Mariela home. (Mariela now attends the Academy at Ocean Reef.)  Mariela lived in Casa Bernabe for 4 years and amid the many visits, Christina forged a friendship with this helping mission and the children still there.

This next ADULT trip will be led by Christina Watson and George Blaha, with plans to visit and work with the children, their teachers and the school during the visit.

GOALS FOR THIS TRIP:
    1) Medical.  We have a doctor or two going and need nurses, doctors and/or aides.
    2) Construction. We have some building projects to complete, need a few strong backs.
    3) Baby House. We need baby rockers, diaper changing mommies!
    4) Cleaning/Sanitizing.  We need a crew to lead a sanitation effort on the grounds of                 the orphanage.
    5) Grandma team. We need some people to take the kids on an outing (zoo or Chuck E           Cheese)
