Reverend Dr. Robert W. “Bob” Henley was installed as the Chaplain In Residence at the Ocean Reef Club in March of 2014. Prior to being installed as our Chaplain, Bob served as the Senior Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood in Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho for thirteen years. He is a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, where he also pursued doctoral studies.  He was awarded the Doctor of Divinity Degree by Sterling College, where he was vice-chair of the Board of Trustees.  He has served as a trustee of the Outreach Foundation of the Presbyterian Church and as a leadership participant with Presbyterians For Middle East Peace.

During his ministry career, he has served on the staff of Youth for Christ, International; as an associate pastor of the Elmbrook Church in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and the Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. He was the Senior Pastor and Head of Staff of the Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas before his move to Idaho. 

Bob and his wife Jane, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice, have been married for over forty-nine years. They have been conference leaders and retreat speakers for many years, with a focus on marriage renewal. They have traveled extensively, leading frequent study tours to the Middle East.  They are the parents of three married children, and the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren. The Henley’s make their home here at Ocean Reef from mid-October to mid-June, and in Sun Valley during the summers. 

As our Chaplain In Residence, Reverend Dr. Robert (Bob) W. Henley is the pastor to our Protestant Congregation, but is available to serve anyone in the Ocean Reef Community, regardless of religious affiliation.
